  20. What types of roles and staff can you help recruit?

1. Who are You?

TenPercent Unlimited is owned by Ten-Percent.co.uk Limited, a legal recruitment consultancy specialising in the recruitment of solicitors and fee
earners, and part of the Ten Percent group of websites. Ten Percent Financial Recruitment, owned by TP Recruitment Limited, is also part of the group. We are called Ten Percent because of our commitment to donating 10% of our company profits to a charitable trust called the Ten-Percent Foundation on an annual basis. We are called Unlimited because we offer unlimited legal recruitment to solicitors’ firms and accountancy practices without charging success fees.

2. How much do you charge?

We charge from just £60 per month plus VAT for a period of 5 years. We quote for 3 or 5 years, although the price is invariably cheaper the longer you commit. The cost depends on a number of factors including size of firm, number of offices, number of partners, turnover, staffing levels, location and type of work undertaken. To request a quote please complete the form here.

3. How many CVs do you have on your books?

We maintain our own candidate databases of about 13,000 Solicitors, Accountants and Legal Executives. We also have Assistant Accountants, Fee Earners (with experience), Client Managers, Administrative Staff, Licensed Conveyancers, Barristers, Legal Cashiers, Costs Draftsmen and Support Staff. We have links to www.chancerylane.co.uk, a specialist online legal jobs board you will have access to as part of Ten Percent Unlimited. We also have access to external job boards that vary from time to time, but are useful advertising mediums. Although a number of these have CV banks – it is very rare to actually find any that are useful. See here for an article on why CV banks are usually a waste of time, but if you are an employer looking for a CV bank you need to ask yourself the simple question; would you post your CV onto the internet for random strangers to view?

4. Do Ten-Percent Legal Recruitment and Ten Percent Financial Recruitment, your contingency fee legal and accountancy recruitment agencies, hold any CVs back?

No. We provide all candidates with updates on new vacancies posted, which include both our own agency vacancies and those of Ten Percent Unlimited clients.

5. What Guarantees of Success can you offer?

None at all. There is no feasible way to ever guarantee recruitment for a particular role. A firm offering a £25,000 salary for a fluent French speaking Commercial Property Solicitor with 20 years experience is not going to get many applications regardless of how many guarantees we give! We continue to work vacancies until you fill them. Ten Percent Unlimited is risk-free in terms of agency fees. If you recruit a candidate and they leave, you simply recruit another one.If you use a standard recruitment agency and a candidate leaves within the rebate period, you lose a lot of money.

6. Why should we pay for your service when we can use a job board?

A job board is likely to charge you about £175 to advertise your job for 4-6 weeks with no guarantee of success. Whilst we make a few placements from time to time from our use of job boards, most placements come via our candidate database, which contains both active and passive candidates. Our databases have been running for almost 20 years and are our prize assets.

The main problem with job boards is that the vast majority of applicants are completely unsuitable and applying for jobs they are not qualified to do. Furthermore you tend to only access people applying who are actively looking at present (ie they are currently out of work or facing redundancy) and good quality candidates do not post their CVs on to online CV libraries and job boards unless they are desperate for work.

7. Why should we pay for this service when we can get a recruitment agency to do all the work?

This is exactly why you should use the service! We are a recruitment agency and you can use us in the same way as if you were using our standard services. Clare Fagan, one of our directors, handles all the legal vacancies and Emma Ireland, an experienced accountant recruitment consultant, handles the vacancies for accountancy firms. Clare and Emma will post vacancies, advise on salary levels and terms, send CVs to you, arrange interviews, get involved in salary negotiations etc.. Some clients like us to remain involved throughout, others prefer to do parts of the recruitment themselves. Either way is fine. You still only pay the monthly fee and no large one-off lump sums as you would to a conventional recruitment agency.

8. Do you disclose Candidate Identities to Clients from your Candidate Database?

No, unless we have specific consent to do so. Under no circumstances are any candidates at any time identified to Clients without their express consent. On each and every occasion we identify your company to the Candidate and also as much information as we have about any specific vacancies you are looking to recruit for. The Candidate will give us consent or otherwise to release a CV to you.

9. How do we contact Candidates?

Applications from candidates applying for your vacancy via external job boards are forwarded straight through to you in full, which gives you all the information from the outset. Candidates indicating an interest via our internal systems will get full information about your vacancy before they give consent for a CV to be released.

10. How do we know we will find someone suitable?

You don’t. However it is highly likely; provided you do not have any requirements that are impossible. For example, you cannot realistically expect the service to produce 3 Russian-speaking Corporate Finance Solicitors with individual followings worth £500k and prepared to work for £30,000 a year.

11. What happens if we don’t find anyone suitable for our job(s)?

We keep trying for you. There are no guarantees, but over 100 law firms and accountancy practices have signed up since the service started in 2011 and we usually supply CVs for just about every vacancy.

12. We already use a few recruitment agencies and advertise our jobs in the Law Society Gazette or Reed. Why would we want to use TenPercent Unlimited?

We are an alternative option for you and possibly at the lowest cost. You can use the service alongside other options. It is worth noting that on numerous occasions over the years our clients have received CVs from other recruitment consultants charging full fees that our clients were able to source directly using Ten Percent Unlimited at no extra cost.

Even if we fill one vacancy for you at a salary of more than £20,000 you will have already saved a considerable amount on employment agency fees. What have you got to lose?

13. How do I know that your CVs are updated regularly?

Our Candidate Database contains active and passive candidates, with a large number staying with us for many years. Our brand is trusted by solicitors, accountants and client firms; and we have been around for a very long time in recruitment terms (Ten-Percent Legal Recruitment was established in April 2000 and Ten Percent Financial Recruitment not long afterwards). Some of our candidates keep in touch regularly, others will get in touch as and when they need to.  It is in our interests to keep our Candidate Databases up to date as much as possible as we use the database to recruit from on a daily basis.

14. Do  I get notifications of new additions to the Candidate Database?

Yes if candidates are relevant to your vacancy. Every new candidate who registers with us automatically gets details of vacancies suitable for them. These always include all the Ten Percent Unlimited vacancies. We also forward through any CVs that may fit your particular vacancy as the CVs get posted into the Candidate Database. We usually register an additional 10-40 CVs each week for qualified lawyers and accountants.

15. What happens if a candidate joins us, but then leaves?

You recruit again, at no extra cost. This is the beauty of our service. It is so simple.

16. What happens if candidates do not get back in touch when we contact them?

Whilst we make every effort to ensure candidates get back in touch when inquiries are made by clients, we cannot compel candidates to respond. Most candidates will reply either to say that they are interested and ask for further information or that they do not want to take matters further.

17. Why are you offering this service at such a low price and particularly when you are linked to standard recruitment agencies charging standard contingency fees?

Because we spotted a gap in the market for a company to offer a pure online recruitment service at an online price. We benefit from recurring stable income each month and also from the increase in business arising from your vacancies.

18. We are slightly hesitant to commit to this service.

Don’t be! The service is used regularly by a range of solicitors’ and accountants’ firms, from high street businesses through to niche central London practices.

19. Where are you based?

Ten Percent Unlimited is located in London and North Wales. Administration work is undertaken out of our offices in North Wales.

20. What type of vacancies can you help with?

Permanent, locum, contract, part time, full time, solicitors, accountants, legal executives, directors, managers, assistant accountants, partners, paralegals, fee earners, secretaries, legal executives, accounting technicians, receptionists, legal cashiers, office managers, practice managers, trainee accountants and trainee solicitors. Provided the roles are salaried (the service does not cover commission only, profit share or pure fee sharing roles) and above the Living Wage levels (see our ethical business policy here), we can assist.
